Slide ABOUT Aruba Photo Room, a 36 sqm space in the middle of Oranjestad, opened in October of 2019 thanks to a collaboration between the Talk of the Town Hotel & Beach Club and the Art Museum of the Americas. The space features contemporary photographers from countries members of the Organization of American States (OAS) as well as permanent observer states. The collection is updated every three months and it is free and open to the public.

The collections are curated by Fabian Gonçalves, exhibition coordinator of the Art Museum of the Americas since 1998, and curator of photography since 2005. He conceptualizes exhibitions to redefine the space and create a one-to-one encounter with the audience. Beyond a typical installation, the room becomes a communicative sensorial experience where the photographs are treated like graffiti, placed directly on the walls, without protection, frame, or insurance. Thus creating a sustainable and approachable way of presenting art.

Aruba Photo Room is coordinated by Eva González, spatial designer specialized in museum exhibition design and graduate of The George Washington University and the Royal Academy of Art The Hague. For the last 14 years, she has worked in the cultural sector, working with galleries, museums, and theaters to materialize their ideas into compelling print materials and spaces. Her background in illustration, production design, and interior architecture provides a broad range of skills. Her main interest is in transforming cultural materials into participatory experiences.

The Art Museum of the Americas of the Organization of American States is dedicated to Latin American and Caribbean contemporary art. It aims to highlight the four OAS pillars: democracy, human rights, security, and development; through the visual arts of its member and observer countries. The collaboration with the Talk of the Town Hotel & Beach Club will increase the outreach and message of the collection by bringing it to new audiences.
