OPEN CALL 2020

Aruba Photo Room invites our diverse community to participate in an open call for photographs, a collective project that tries to reflect the experiences lived in Aruba throughout the lockdown (March 13-June 15) caused by the coronavirus in 2020.

On March 13th, 2020, the first case of COVID19 was confirmed on the island. While the crisis unfolded, strict measures were taken to protect and safeguard the community. An unprecedented closure of its borders and shelter-in-place orders altered the society and environment of the island. We are now facing unbearable loss and hardship, but at the same time, the crisis brought a new sense of hope for a better, kinder future.

We would like to create a visual snapshot through the eyes of the community. One that offers a glimpse into the lives and emotions lived during these trying times.

Aruba Photo Room asks you to submit one piece of photography (digital), taken during this challenging period, and responds to the following suggested themes: Our Community, Our Land, Our Hopes, Our Fears.

The project is open to all ages and abilities, images could have been captured on cameras or phones, and taken between March 13th and June 15th, 2020. The closing date for submissions is August 31st, 2020.

To submit an entry, the photograph must be uploaded as a digital image via the submission form
